Three Ways to Stick to Your Exercise Routine
By Jonathan Campbell
Although some people assume that exercise is timing, it actually boosts energy, especially in sedentary people. But even when you know the benefits, it can be hard to form the habit of consistent exercise.
Try these strategies:
1. Give yourself credit for the smallest effort
Just start. Promise yourself you can quit after 10 minutes. Once you begin, you’ll probably find that you don’t want to quit after all.
2. Think about context
Are you stressed with the environment in your gym? Do you try to run in the mornings, but recoil from going out in the cold? Examine the factors that might be discouraging you from exercising and see if you can come up with solutions.
3. Exercise several times a week
If your idea of exercise is to join games of pick-up basketball, you should be playing practically daily. Twice a month is not enough.
A positive state of mind will bring you positive energy into your life and make your dreams a reality. Stop contemplating and start putting your efforts into action today.
